Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This policy explains how VidBros (the “App”) handles information. The App does not require an account. The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, to understand App use and diagnose crashes. Third-party websites opened in the App may display advertisements and use their own cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies.

Information Collected by the Developer

The App does not automatically send your browsing history, bookmarks, saved pages, cookies, Reader text, reading positions, or the content of websites you visit to the developer or to Firebase. Firebase Analytics may collect App interaction and usage events, app and device information, and app-instance identifiers. Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash and non-fatal error reports, stack traces, app and device state, and app-installation identifiers. These services can also receive technical information such as IP address when data is transmitted. Collection is enabled in the App. Google processes this information to provide these services under its own terms and privacy practices; Firebase data may be processed or stored in Google facilities in different countries. Crashlytics data is generally retained for 90 days before Google begins removing it from its live and backup systems. See Firebase privacy and security information and the Google Privacy Policy.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are used for product analysis and diagnostics, not advertising. The developer does not use these services to identify you by name or to collect the contents of your browsing activity. If you choose to include browsing information in a support email, the developer receives what you send.

Support Emails

If you contact support by email, the developer receives your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to respond to your request and investigate the issue you report. Support correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your request and related follow-up. It is stored outside the App in the email services used to send and receive it; deleting the App does not delete those messages.

Send only the information needed to explain the issue. Do not include passwords, verification codes, payment details, or private browsing records, and remove sensitive information from screenshots and links. You can contact changebobtov@gmail.com to request deletion of support correspondence held by the developer. This request concerns copies held by the developer; it does not delete copies in your own mailbox.

Privacy Policy and Support Website

Our privacy policy and support pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. When you open these pages, including from within the App, GitHub receives connection information and logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes. This is separate from the App's locally stored browsing library. For details, see the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores normal tabs, up to 20 recently closed tabs, bookmarks, saved page groups, browser preferences, and up to 500 history entries on your device. Normal tabs are restored after relaunch, and recently closed normal tabs can be reopened from Tabs. Reader appearance settings, websites you choose for automatic Reader opening, and eligible reading positions are also stored locally as described below. This App-managed database is excluded from device backups. WebKit may separately store cookies, cache, login sessions, and other website data. The App does not sync its browsing library to a developer server or iCloud.

Reader

Reader examines the visible text of an open webpage on your device to identify and display a plain-text article. Extracted text may remain temporarily in memory while that webpage is open; the App does not save a copy of it to its database or send it to the developer. If you choose Next chapter, the App opens the identified link as a normal webpage request, so that website receives the information ordinarily involved in a visit.

In normal browsing, the App saves Reader font size, line spacing, and background choice. If you enable automatic Reader opening for a website, it saves that website's hostname. When history recording is enabled, the App also saves the article URL, paragraph position, and time last saved to resume reading. It keeps positions for up to 200 URLs. Turning history recording off stops reading and updating saved positions, and Reader does not use positions already saved while recording is off. Existing positions are not erased. Reader appearance and automatic website choices remain available even when history recording is off.

Private Browsing

Private tabs use a separate, temporary WebKit data store. They are not saved for restoration or added to browsing history, and the App does not allow bookmarks to be saved from private browsing. Reader does not read or save reading positions in private browsing, and changes to Reader appearance or automatic website choices are not saved there. Ending the private session clears its tabs and temporary website store. Private browsing does not make you anonymous to websites, search providers, internet service providers, or network administrators.

Switching to normal browsing or putting the App in the background does not end the private session. To discard the session, tap End in the private-browsing banner or choose “End private session” in Tabs.

Search Providers and Third-Party Websites

Search queries go to your selected provider: Google (the default for new installations), Bing, or DuckDuckGo. Updating the App keeps your saved search engine preference. Scanned content is submitted immediately as a web address or search; unsupported link types are rejected. Websites you open may receive your IP address, browser information, cookies, and information you submit. These providers and websites handle data under their own policies; the developer does not control their practices.

Content Safety

The App blocks a limited set of explicit search terms and known adult websites on your device. Searches with supported providers use their safe-search settings. These measures do not inspect all website text, images, or videos and cannot guarantee that unsafe content is hidden.

Page Translation

If you choose to translate a webpage, the App uses Apple's Translation framework to process the page text on your device. Apple may collect API usage and performance information, including the App's bundle ID and the source and target languages, but not the original or translated text. The developer does not receive the page text through this feature.

Translation is available for supported languages and may require downloading language resources from Apple. An internet connection may be needed for these downloads.

Permissions

The App requests camera access when you choose to scan a QR code. You can also select a QR image using the system photo picker. QR images and camera frames are processed on your device and are not uploaded by the scanner. Choosing to capture or upload media for a website may prompt iOS for camera, microphone, or photo access; the selected file is sent to that website. The app's WebKit container does not request or authorize live website access to the device's camera or microphone. This does not prevent you from choosing to take a photo or record a video for a website upload using the system picker. You can manage the App's camera and microphone permissions in iOS Settings. Website motion and orientation access is denied, and website downloads are not supported. The App does not automatically read your clipboard.

Browser Lock

If you enable Lock browser in Settings, the App uses iOS Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. The App does not receive biometric data. Its lock preference is stored in the device Keychain and may remain after reinstalling; turn off Lock browser in Settings before uninstalling if you want to reset that preference. The App covers its content in the app switcher.

Your Choices and Data Deletion

You can delete bookmarks, history entries, and saved groups in Library. Deleting a history entry also removes the reading position for that URL. Settings lets you select history, cookies and website data, cache, and normal tabs for clearing. Clearing history removes all saved reading positions; it does not reset Reader appearance or automatic website choices. You can change appearance in Reader and turn automatic opening off for a website there. Clearing either history or normal tabs also removes the recently closed tabs list, so those tabs can no longer be reopened from that list. Turning off history recording stops new entries and position updates but does not erase existing ones. Clearing website data may sign you out of websites. Uninstalling the App removes its local database and website data; the Keychain lock preference may remain.

Children’s Privacy

The App is a general-purpose browser and is not directed to children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. Parents and guardians should supervise a child’s use of third-party websites.

Data Security and Retention

Bookmarks, saved page groups, and browser preferences, including Reader appearance and automatic website choices, are stored locally until you change or delete them or uninstall the App, except that the Keychain lock preference may remain as described above. History is limited to 500 entries, the recently closed tabs list to 20 entries, and reading positions to 200 URLs; older entries or positions are removed as new ones exceed these limits. Normal tabs remain until closed or cleared. Private tabs and their temporary website store are cleared when you end the private session and are not restored after relaunch. WebKit manages website data separately. The local database uses iOS file protection, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Third-party websites are responsible for information they receive.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, legal requirements, or our data practices change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new revision date.
